If you are looking for info on the U.S., Canadian or Caribbean area codes,
click
here for those instead.
The American phonesystem allows you to have letters instead of numbers when you dial, example: 1-800-COLLECT. (The number you call when yo wanna make a
collect call..;p )
So how do you know what number to dial when it's a word? All the letters "belong to the dialpad like this:
1 - nothing
2 - A, B, C
3 - D, E, F
4 - G, H, I
5 - J, K, L
6 - M, N, O
7 - P, Q, R, S
8 - T, U, V
9 - W, X, Y, Z
0 - Operator
Basically...If you were to call 1-800-COLLECT, you'd dial: 1-800-265 5328
If you were to call my name, you'd dial: 773 339 475. But that's not my number...;)
